Accreditations at our Dyeing Factory – OEKO-TEX® and ISO 45001
We are Pincroft. We are a leading commission dyer, printer, and textile finisher for large commercial orders and we pride ourselves on offering the highest quality commission dyeing and finishing to the highest standards
We have 130 years of UK manufacturing experience and our production processes are designed to deliver the highest quality results.
As industry leaders, at Pincroft we understand the importance of remaining at the forefront of our field, and we are continuously striving to improve. We have recently been recognised with two important accreditations, Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX® and regaining the ISO 45001 Health and Safety Certificate.
ISO 45001 Health and Safety
ISO 45001 sets the standard for the world’s international health and safety and at Pincorft we are receiving this accreditation again after initially receiving it in 2018. Issued by BSI, this certification shows that our preparation, dyeing, printing and finishing of woven fabrics is done in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
The ISO 45001 accreditation is attained by mitigating any factors that are harmful or pose a danger to workers’ physical and/or mental health. The ultimate goal is to ensure that all businesses provide a healthy and safe working environment, not only for their employees but also anyone else who may visit the workplace. This goal is achieved through identifying and then controlling any factors that could potentially lead to injury, illness, or in extreme circumstances, even death.
Unfortunately, around the world, preventable instances occur on a daily basis that leads to injury or death due to occupational accidents. Globally, there are more than 2.7 million deaths that occur each year through such circumstances, in addition to the 374 million non-fatal injuries that result in 4 or more days of work absence. While these numbers may seem high, the fact is that the true figures are likely to be far higher, and are underreported in some parts of the world. The vast majority of these instances are likely to have been preventable, had the proper health and safety framework been in place.
Now for the first time, businesses around the world have access to that framework. No matter the size of the business or its location, there is a clear pathway and structure to follow that will allow businesses to evolve their existing health and safety measures, developing into better and more robust measures that are designed to protect everyone.
Pincroft and ISO 45001
In order for us here at Pincroft to regain this accreditation, we had to show our continued commitment to managing the health and safety of our workers. In order to do this, we needed a clear management structure that has clear and defined authority and responsibility. We had to show our defined objectives for improvement that show measurable results, as well as a structured approach to risk assessment and reduction.
As leaders in commission fabrics and being at the forefront of dyeing and printing, we help to set the standards in the UK, and gaining the ISO 45001 certification is just another example of how we strive to remain as industry leaders.
Implementation of the ISO 45001 standards within our textile dyeing operation has a number of benefits, for ourselves, our workers and our customers. It displays our commitment to providing a workplace in which we aim to eliminate and minimise the risk of illness or injury to our workers. This, in turn, leads to increased productivity as we reduce downtime and eliminate ineffective practices throughout our production processes.
- The benefits:
Reduced operating costs – Less downtime due to ill health or incidences in the workplace, as well as lower costs from legal fees and compensation. - Improved relationships – As this aims to make the health of staff, customers and suppliers a priority, this is recognised and appreciated throughout the organisation.
- Legal compliance – A well-structured health and safety system allows us to stay fully compliant with all laws and regulations.
- Improved risk management – The framework we set out through this certification allows us to better identify and manage potential risks, and implement controlling measures.
- Proven business credentials – The independent verification against a global industry standard shows we are a reputable business.
- Customer satisfaction – The ability to meet customers needs whilst ensuring their health and safety should they visit.
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®
In addition to our ISO 45001 certification, we have also been granted authorisation in accordance with Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX® to use the Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX® trademark. We have gained this accreditation for our textile dyeing and printing processes, our chemicals and our dyestuffs. This allows us to classify the majority of our commission fabrics as OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Certified, with the exceptions being fabrics that undergo a chemical finish that is not classified under this certification. Our fabrics, including polyester, cotton, polyester blends and a wide array of finishes are covered by the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Certification.
This accreditation shows that the goods we produce meet the requirements set out by Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX®. This means that the human and ecological requirements have been met, ensuring that every component of a textile item is harmless for human health. Our Class 2 Certification includes products that come into direct contact with skin to a large extent and has the second most stringent set of standards.
A Standard 100 mark is a signal of trust and shows that every single competent and ingredient of a textile item has been tested, from the fibres themselves to the finishing and coatings that have been applied.
Pincroft – Standard 100
At Pincroft we are delighted to have received the Standard 100 certificate, just as with the ISO 45001 certification, it shows that we are truly at the forefront of what we do. We believe in sustainability and sustainable processes wherever possible, and the Standard 100 certification proves that our commission fabrics works and textile dyeing is done with human-ecological safety in mind.
We put consumer safety and environmental responsibility at the forefront of what we do, and considering our work with dyeing and printing, and especially with some of our chemical finishes, we feel a great sense of pride with this certification.
There are many advantages to having the Standard 100 certification. Not least that end consumers recognise this label, which in turn leads to greater trust in our brand. As the tests are carried out by neutral OEKO-TEX® test institutes, and to a globally standardised catalogue of strict criteria, these are results you can trust.
This quality assurance leads to our products performing better, and essentially, keeping our customers happy with our work and our products.
